RTU vs Concentrated Cleaning Proudcts

Concentrated Glass Cleaner

The Green Clean Institute highly favors the use of RTU products instead of typical RTU products. GCI believes that “Going Green” is a progressive process, not a one time effort.

The Seriously Green Network is an outgrowth of the mission of the Green Clean Institute.  That Green cleaning mission is promoting the basic, practical steps that actually develops a Seriously Green cleaning service.

The Green and Healthy Building Partnership has identified the key areas that are part of the Green cleaning program.  These items include obvious elements like HEPA Vacuums, microfiber cleaning tools, non-ammonia window cleaner, and proper entry mats that minimize the maintenance of the floors in the building.  Each of these areas carries a point value.  A building is considered a GHBP certified building at 350 points out of 900 possible points.  In our belief that a Green and Healthy building is a progressive or ongoing effort, the GHBP system allows room for growth guided by the practical steps shown in the GHBP list.

One the very basic and important steps is the transition from RTU (Ready to Use) cleaning products that are often over 90% water.  Concentrated cleaning products are not only a Green and healthy products, but they are smart and save everyone money.  Why ship fifty gallons of cleaning products at today's high shipping cost when one gallon of a high-quality, very effective concentrated product costs less to buy and is less expensive to ship.

While the ingredients for any cleaning product still counts for a Green product, the idea of concentrated cleaning products is always a big consideration.  But, think of the labor and cost savings of concentrated products.  In the example used in this example, the Glass & Surface Cleaner from Synergy Americas the real cost of this product is about $2.00 per gallon.  With a less-Green, off-the-shelf glass cleaning product can be $12-$15 per gallon, this is a true cost savings to the cleaning service.  Then, consider the cost of hauling around and storing fifty gallons of cleaning products.

From the environmental value of concentrated products, there is plastic oil used and plastic waste when companies choose concentrated products.  In addition, there is less plastic waste that is sent to landfills.  In any city, we must consider the reduction of hundreds of plastic bottles by hundreds of cleaning services week after week.  The plastic bottle output into our landfills is simply staggering and very foolish.

The good news is that members of the Green Clean Institute receive $100 in free Green cleaning products (many in concentrated form) plus 10-30% off all successive purchases via the Seriously Green Network.  In addition, GCI cleaning services may freely use the GHBP checklist to bring the GHBP award to their best accounts.
